A reasonably busy last couple of days. Goals were to get the motor off the boat and stored in the garage and to get the boat in the garage off the trailer. I ended up getting more done… some out of necessity boat was too heavy to get off the trailer on my own and some cause I got rolling! It started on Friday night… built an engine hoist out of some scrap wood and metal bits lying around.
Ah well… it worked! With the motor off and stored away… got down to business. Got the seats, and sides removed. Got the splashwell out cleanly with no issues this time. Removed the rear floor and some of the styrofoam. I guess a little snow had got in and the main pieces in the center are currently fused to the floor. Then I removed the gas tank and the stand the tank was sitting on. Pretty large… not too bad of shape actually.

A week or so ago, I picked up a new, Ferris 36″ hydro walk behind mower and wanted to install an hour meter for maintenance tracking purposes. After doing some searches and reviewing a few manufacturer websites, this was the one I decided on due to one wire hookup, the option of surface mounting with self stick tape, and low cost. It comes with wiring simple, one wire connection , two screws for mounting and a zip tie for securing the wire on the spark plug wire.
Double sided tape NOT included. I forgot to measure the wire, but would estimate it to be around 4′ in length.

On the other hand, they might suffer from carburetor problems, including bad gas mileage, and do nothing about it. What if there was an easy solution that allowed you to convert your classic muscle car over to fuel injection in a weekend and never have to worry about tuning it…ever? Other than that, the configuration was very basic — all the way down to the mechanical fuel pump. Idle air fuel ratios are good, but the throttle response is not very crisp.
Under cruising the Camaro runs a bit on the rich side and wants to stumble slightly when you mash the throttle. Under full throttle the Camaro performs well, but could definitely benefit from better partial throttle tuning.
Take two wires and hook them on the tach, one on each pole. Connect one to the negative side of the coil and then touch the other wire on the motor to ground it. The needle should move up, if not, then switch position on the ground/coil.

How to Connect a Tachometer to the Chevy By Amanda Harrell ; Updated July 30, A tachometer is a tool which measures speed in revolutions per minute, or rpm, at which an engine shaft is rotating. A tachometer is usually found on the dashboard of a car, but you you can buy a separate one to measure your engine’s rpm if needed. If your Chevy engine has a broken tachometer you can connect a new one in your vehicle.
The process is fairly straightforward if you have basic auto repair knowledge. Instructions Mount the tachometer above the steering column or on the dashboard of your vehicle using the supplied hardware and tools recommended by the manufacturer. Run the wiring of the tachometer from the vehicle’s interior to the engine compartment.

The process for allowing flight training to continue under an amended certificate has stalled within the FAA; however, owners should not wait for that situation to resolve before amending their airworthiness certificate. If the deadline is missed, the aircraft will NEVER again be eligible for an airworthiness certificate! The amendment process is not a guarantee that an aircraft will be able to operate as previously certificated.
In the middle of Power/tach signal harness is a yellow and blue wire. If connect the yellow and blue wire together the back light in gauges will come on when ignition key is turned on. If the blue wire is connected to Navigation light switch on boat then the back lights will come on when light switch.
But here’s another one you will love: Very good condition with newer bottom. Original Chrysler in-line 6-cylinder engine, serviceable upholstery, home-built trailer. The hardware has been re-chromed and the boat has been rewired. The boat was used only briefly after it was restored. Needs refinishing, but could be used this summer in its current condition.

How to Install a Tach on an Evinrude Boat Motor by Chris Stevenson Boats with tachometers allow the boat owner to govern and moderate the engine’s rpm rate during wide-open throttle operation. Yellow and red lines on the tachometer indicate caution and danger thresholds, warning the boat owner of engine speeds exceeding the manufacture’s specifications. Keeping the engine within and under maximum rpm ratings extends engine life and promotes better performance.
Trailer the boat to a convenient work location. Use a socket to disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the key or lanyard from the ignition.

For years the company has made a point of featuring well-appointed models built on smaller hulls in its lineup, earning Ranger thousands of fans — and happy customers — from all across North America. For Ranger continues this happy tradition with its all-new Z — a well made, well designed bass boat that comes in at a trim 17 feet, 9 inches in overall length and weighs just 1, pounds.
This one is still absolutely huge, even for a foot boat, with plenty of space for two or even three anglers to fish in comfort. An integral storage slot for a bumper board makes it quick and convenient to check that fish meet minimum size limits. Fully carpeted for comfort and a sure grip, the elevated front deck conceals three cavernous storage lockers, including a portside rod box that handles rods to eight feet in length. As with all Rangers, the lids on the Z are gasketed to keep rain and debris out, and supported by a gas ram so you can use two hands to place or remove gear.
The front casting deck includes a recessed well for the foot control pedal for the electric motor. An adjacent bow panel is the ideal spot for mounting electronics. Centered in the front deck is a receptacle for a pedestal-mount seat or leaning post, and just ahead of that is a recessed well to house the foot control pedal for the standard Minn Kota Edge 70 bow-mount electric motor.

Congratulations on your progress! Considering not that long ago the engine wouldn’t even run, having the engine running with water coming out the exhaust and the propeller spinning must really make you happy. Just don’t spin the propeller for too long at a time since there isn’t any water to cool the shaft packing when the boat is sitting on a trailer. Regarding the tachometer wire, the tachometer should have three wires connected to it.
The three wires are ignition 12V , ground, and signal. The OEM wiring scheme for Trojan was yellow for ignition, white for ground, and yellow for the tachometer signal.

After many trips in varying seasons and conditions we’ve refined mooring site campsite selection to a fine art. Sometimes we send a ski boat ahead with a volunteer “scouting party” and a marine radio. In that case “the scouting party is the final authority” on site selection. Don’t waste time on the radio having them relay parameters back to the houseboat for a remote decision. You really must be at the spot to tell what’s good and what’s not. I’m happy to overhear what they are seeing, their debate between “sites A, B, and C,” and precise directions to the site of their choice, but I cannot determine by radio if site A or B is superior.
After many years we’ve gotten lazier and often just scout from the houseboat directly. Tag, you’re all now members of the scouting party!
